EPA CERTIFIED

At United Maintenance, Inc., we are conscientious not only of our customer’s energy-efficiency needs, but also of our responsibility to the larger community with regard to environmental concerns and the inherent potential hazards of our industry. This is why every UMI technician goes through strict training and testing to become EPA-certified in the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC systems.

What is EPA certification?

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) writes, revises and enforces regulations regarding environmental concerns and protecting public health. EPA Section 608 specifically requires HVAC technicians to be EPA-certified before handling controlled refrigerant chemicals used in heating and cooling systems, which can pose a known risk to the environment if not handled with the proper care. To become certified, HVAC technicians must undergo rigorous training offered through an approved certification program, followed by extensive testing. Before we allow UMI technicians to install or maintain any of our clients’ units, they are required to achieve Universal certification, the highest level of Section 608 HVAC certification.

Environmentally conscious

United Maintenance is not simply concerned about complying with EPA rules when sending our technicians into the field; we also understand the ramifications of our business and the importance of protecting both the environment and the public. This translates not only into responsible use, disposal and recycling of controlled refrigerants, but also into our ongoing efforts to make sure our HVAC systems are as environmentally safe and energy efficient as possible. Our commitment to strict EPA certification is just one of the many ways we live up to our environmental responsibilities.
